The Intermix Recommender is a forms/ratings catalog technology. Listed below are Recommender sections coming soon on this website (Spring 1997). Anything that can be cataloged is a candidate for a Recommender type of its own.
"LA Community Resources" will be a collaborative effort of the local Los Angeles communities. We will be looking to the local high schools, churches and so forth to get it started, and then to the citywide foundations and leagues for office money to organize the effort properly.
Audio on the internet opens up a world of possibilities. We will look for sermons and lectures (with emphasis on Los Angeles speakers), perhaps charge a fee to cover the cost of digitizing them, and make them available online. The talks will be rated, so it will be easy to find the most interesting material.
Come to our "Movies" or "Books" sections to share your finds. Have you read something offbeat that you liked? Maybe you can encourage someone else to pick it up, too.
Food recipes are a natural for the Recommender. They will be cross indexed by dish, cuisine, ease of preparation and ingredients. Every recipe can be the starting point for a discussion thread. The ratings will spotlight the popular entries. Monthly contests will focus on particular dishes, with prizes for the most highly rated recipes in the category.
Rated recipes should be a big hit with restaurant chefs particularly.
